  • 《ソロンポと山の神》 / “Sorompo and the Mountain Deighty” Cotton mounted on panel, 80x56cm, 2024 Photo taken by Kei Miyajima ソロンポ頭骨標本制作: うらべさん 最近、山梨で猟をしている先輩とご友人がたからいろいろなことを教えてもらっている。初めて訪ねたとき、猟師の間でソロンポと呼ばれる、遺伝的に角が枝分かれしない鹿の頭を見せてもらった。曰く、ソロンポたちはその角の貧弱さ故に他の雄鹿との闘争に耐えられず、山の暮らしやすい地域を追われてしまう。その結果、単独行動を取りがちになり、人里に近づいて罠に掛かりやすくなるという。話を伺ったあと、彼らの存在がなにを語っているのか不思議に思いながら本作を描いた。しかし遺伝的な身体の相違は、人間を含めあらゆる動物に現れる。ソロンポの場合、他の雄鹿に比して不利な条件を背負ったその生涯がどんなものであれ、山の神は彼らに最後の一刻まで懸命に生きる権利を与えているし、ソロンポたちも実際そう生きているに相違ない。所詮、彼らが生まれ持った状況を短絡的に腑に落ちさせる優生思想などは、人間が考え出した排除の思想のひとつでしかないのでしょう。 #hunting #deer #dog #deerhunting #huntingdog #art #painting #oilpainting #animalpainting #ellieokamoto #okamotoellie #鹿 #狩猟 #絵画 #岡本瑛里 #ソロンポ
  • 《うさこ》 / “Usako (The Bunny)” Oil and acrylic on cotton, mounted on panel, 55x40cm, 2024 The first photo taken by Kei Miyajima Hitachinokuni Izumotaisha Collection As I have painted animals as shapes of spirits, I came to be interested to paint a series of animal portraits that we, humans can find ourselves in them somehow.   • “On the Way to the Hunting, I Might Change into a Canine” 《狩への道中、私は狼になるのかもしれない》Watercolor on paper, 10x15cm, 2024 . One of the quick watercolor drawings I did in this spring. 春に描いた水彩ドローイングのうちの一枚。 . In Japan, wolves are considered to be extinct by about 1905 by diseases and deforestation. Today people who live close from mountains and forests need to hunt deer instead of wolves to keep their crops and vegetables. The hunting team that my friends belongs and I have visited twice, consists of several locals and many outsiders mainly from cities. I found the cooperation very interesting and attractive, while most of city residents are not aware of the existence of the hunters who support the farmers and forestry workers by taking the role of the extinct wolves. . 日本では1905年あたりに病気や森林伐採がもとで絶滅したオオカミ。こんにち、山林近くに住む人々は穀物や野菜を守るために、オオカミに代わってシカを狩らねばなりません。私の先輩が所属し、これまで二度訪ねさせていただいた猟隊は、いくらかの地元の方々と、主に街から来たよそ者によって構成されています。農家や林業従事者を助けるオオカミ役の狩猟者がいることを街の住人の殆どが意識しないなか、私はこの山林近くに住む人々と、街から来る人々との協同作業を、とても興味深く魅力的に感じています。 . #painting #watercolorpainting #wolf #anthropomorphic #train #japan #hunting #ellieokamoto #岡本瑛里 #okamotoellie #art #illustration #水彩 #水彩画 #fuji #mountfuji #mtfuji

《うさこ》 / “Usako (The Bunny)” Oil and acrylic on cotton, mounted on panel, 55x40cm, 2024 The first photo taken by Kei Miyajima Hitachinokuni Izumotaisha Collection As I have painted animals as shapes of spirits, I came to be interested to paint a series of animal portraits that we, humans can find ourselves in them somehow. In Japan, wolves are considered to be extinct by about 1905 by diseases and deforestation. Today people who live close from mountains and forests need to hunt deer instead of wolves to keep their crops and vegetables. The hunting team that my friends belongs and I have visited twice, consists of several locals and many outsiders mainly from cities.
